Contact Lenses
At Ritter Hagee Optometry, we work to meet all of your vision and eye health needs, including contact lens evaluations and ongoing prescription management. After a comprehensive eye and vision exam, your doctor will review the full range of contact lens options and help you choose a lens that fits your vision needs, eye health, and lifestyle.
If you experience dry eye symptoms, allergies, or frequent eye infections, contact lenses may still be an option—but additional evaluation may be needed to determine the safest and most comfortable choice. Our team is happy to discuss your options and answer any questions.
Contact Lens Evaluation
Before prescribing contact lenses, your doctor will determine the level of vision correction you need. Refractive error—commonly known as nearsightedness, farsightedness, or astigmatism—is measured by evaluating how your eyes focus using a series of lenses and specialized instruments.
Once your prescription is determined, your doctor will discuss whether contact lenses or glasses are the best option for your daily activities and comfort. Certain conditions, such as dry eye or allergies, may affect lens selection or make glasses a better option for some patients.
Contact lenses are available in a variety of designs, including soft and rigid lenses, and may be replaced daily, weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly depending on the lens type. Specialty lenses, including multifocal and other custom designs, are also available for patients with specific vision needs.
Contact Lens Fees
Contact lens evaluation fees vary based on the complexity of the fit and the type of lenses prescribed.
For current contact lens wearers continuing in the same lens type, fees typically begin at $30. Fees may increase if a refit is needed for new materials, products, or lens designs.
For patients new to contact lenses, evaluation fees typically begin at $100 and may increase based on the need for diagnostic lenses, additional evaluation, and insertion and removal training.
Our staff is happy to review fees and answer questions prior to your appointment.
